Commodore & Gibson Race Cruise - Aug 5-6
This event is a weekend cruise with the Commodore Race from Shilshole to Port Ludlow on Saturday, potluck dinner Saturday night, and the Gibson Race from Port Ludlow back to Shilshole on Sunday. Handicaps are applied by adjusting the start times for each boat.
Date: August 6-7, 2021 (Saturday and Sunday)
Location: Puget Sound from Shilshole to Port Ludlow.
The Race
Schedule: First warning at 1000 on Saturday and 1100 on Sunday.
Courses:
Commodore Race (Saturday): Start at Meadow Point Buoy (LL #16765) and finish at Foulweather Bluff Buoy (LL #16535). Course distance ~ 17.5 NM.
Gibson Race (Sunday): Start at Foulweather Bluff Buoy and finish at Meadow Point Buoy. Course distance ~ 17.5 NM.
The start location may be advanced along the course to facilitate finishing.
Time Limit: 1700 on Saturday and 1900 on Sunday.
Moorage: In addition to signing up on the CYC website, each boat must contact Port Ludlow Marina at 360-437-0513 to reserve a slip to be guaranteed with your credit card. Tell them that you are with the CYC group so that you will be assigned a slip with the other CYC boats. NOTE - Port Ludlow is holding a block of slips for us until July 15. After that point, the slips will be released to the general public, so to be guaranteed a spot, contact the marina before July 15.
Prizes: The planning committee is working on ideas for a fun Saturday evening prize ceremony. TBD. Winners of each race will be noted at the annual CYC awards party and the boat’s name engraved on a perpetual CYC trophy.
Social and Meals at Port Ludlow
Sat 1800: Social hour
On the dock - BYOB and snacks.
It is highly recommended that you bring folding chairs for the dock social.
Sat 19:00: Group Dinner
We have reserved the Marina Picnic area which is a covered shelter with 2 large grills. Bring something to grill for your boat, plus a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. The dining room at the resort also has take out dinners available for approximately $20 each if you are more comfortable with that.
Note: once or twice in years past, the marina’s grill was broken, or out of fuel, or somehow not working. If you have a small hibachi or portable grill, you might be well advised to bring it with you, just in case.
Sun 0900: Breakfast
Potluck or BYO - TBD
We'll want to be cleaned up and back to our boats by 1000 to get out to the race course by 1100.
