In the early 1940s, a group of Seattle sailors bandied about the concept of a low-cost inclusive sailing club that emphasized competitive racing. On Puget Sound and Lake Washington courses, CYC hosts more racing than perhaps any other club in the nation with over 150 days of events. The Clubhouse, on Shilshole Bay, has supplied amenities for many major regattas including the 1990 Goodwill Games sailboat races, the 2003 Thunderbird Worlds, the 2009 US Snipe Women's Nationals and will soon welcome the 2024 J/24 Worlds. CYC sailors participate at high level championships around the world as well as casual Fridays. CYC Regattas are known for their professionalism on the water and copious amounts of off water Dark N Stormy consumption. If you are new to racing, CYC organizes weeknight racing from April through September and holds several destination races at a leisurely but focused pace.
CYC also hosts Cruising, Social and Educational programs all year long in a floating clubhouse moored at Shilshole Bay Marina. Cruisers know there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing and they organize cruises year round.More Club Information
