There are whales in our waters –this summer Transient killer whales, humpback, minke and gray whales have all been encountered throughout the Salishe Sea. And, with much excitement the engendered Southern Resident killer whales have made appearances to their summer core critical habitat also. J-Pod spent 15 days foraging around their regular haunts and members of K and L pod are here now. Even more exciting is the recent confirmation that a number of the Southern Resident females are pregnant. But with another year of record low salmon these whales need their space more than ever to give these pregnant females a chance to produce healthy calves. You can help these whales by familiarizing yourself with the Be Whale Wise guidelines and regulations, which will be the focus of this Zoom presentation.
