The Meilcke’s William Garden wooden gaff rigger – found in a shed !
From Scott Meilcke,
“I would be happy to talk about our new to us boat on Thursday, a wooden William Garden gaffer. We bought it out of a shed. It hadn’t been in the water for eight years, and we didn’t get a sea trial, opportunity to run the engine, etc. it has been a bit of an adventure. But, I am currently anchored in port Ludlow, and so far the water is still on the outside. “
So that is our feature presentation for our coming up Zoom meeting at 6:30 on Thursday Sept 10th. Thank you Scott!
We will probably welcome folks to the call as they join the meeting, before moving to the topic of Scott’s new boat. You may remember that Scott and his family sailed their (fiberglass!) 43 foot Wauquiez Amphitrite “Mango” down the coast a couple of years ago. Scott says they sold “Mango” about a year ago.
Depending on the time we have before cruiser’s midnight we can also talk about our October Eagle Harbor cruise, November Poulsbo cruise, and December Kingston tree lighting event. Each of these has involved eating together, which is not such a smart idea without a vaccine for many of us.
I took lots of pictures on Tuesday when the club house was towed to Lake Union Dry Dock, I can show some of those pictures.
In the future we can have a casual around the ‘room’ with people describing their boating / boat projects this summer.
