Chalk Talk | US Coast Guard Presentation on the VTS System and Sailing on Puget Sound

  • 18 Mar 2022
  • 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • CYC Clubhouse and Zoom

Registration is closed

On the evening before the second Center Sound Race, Michael G Bove and Nicole Mallory of the US Coast Guard will give a presentation of the rules and regulation - and common sense - that apply to sailing in and around commercial traffic following the Vessel Traffic Separation (VTS) lanes.  As our races frequently parallel and cross the VTS system we have to be aware of commercial traffic at all times and sail predictably and safely.  This Coast Guard presentation will help you avoid the dreaded Five Blasts of a freighter horn, and will also let you know what happens when you (hopefully never) hear them.

The bar will open at 6:00 pm.  The USCG Presentation will begin at 6:30.  A short Skipper's Meeting will occur after the USCG presentation at 7:30 and awards for the 1st Center Sound Race will be handed out.
