CYC is offering an opportunity for women to learn to sail, improve their sailing skills, and build camaraderie among female sailors of all levels of experience, from newbies to advanced. Participants will be assigned to boats according to their levels of comfort and skill.
Classes are held on boats at Shilshole Marina that belong to CYC members. We will be meeting at assigned boats between 5:30 and 6:00 to rig, and leaving the dock at 6:15 sharp. Following the class each week we will meet for a social at CYC. Dinner is included in the course fee and there is a no host bar available.Session 1: Women’s Sailing – April 18th , 25th , and May 2nd
This is a great course to see if sailing is for you. It is also an opportunity for experienced sailors to get out on the water with other women to share your knowledge and further develop your skills.
In this course you will learn some of the basics – parts of the boat, safety, basic knots and where to use them, getting the boat ready, getting sails up, SAILING, wind direction, and teamwork.
The only requirements are enthusiasm and non-marking shoes. If you have a PFD (personal flotation device) you are welcome to bring it, but CYC will have PFDs available for use. Wear warm layers and be prepared for rain as the weather can shift quickly. The temperature on the water feels much cooler than on land, especially when you factor in the wind.
$75 per session for members / $125 per session for non-members
