Join us for a sewing workshop to sew a Cinch Sack, Duffel Bag, or Sail Bag. Use Sailrite (and other) sewing machines and durable or heavy-weight cloth to make bags for the storage and transportation of goods. Ideal for the sailor who needs a kit bag, storage bag, or sail bag.
We are offering an identical series (Session A) October 15-19

You will need to choose a size and type of bag to make and purchase the appropriate materials.
5/8th yard of material ( 46 or 60 in width)
5 foot of cord ( 3/16 to 3/8 in)
2) 2-foot long by 1-foot deep Zippered Duffel Bag. Materials Required:
5/8th yard of 60-inch-wide material (or 1 yard of 45-inch-wide material)
24 ¾ inches of zipper (coil, metal, or Vislon #5,#8,#10) & two Zipper pulls
96 inch ( 8 ft) webbing ( 1 ½ inch or wider) for handle
Alternative Zipper: one non separating Zipper 24 in or larger
Optional carry strap: 4 ft webbing 1 ½ or 2 inch, slider, and 2 D rings and 2 hooks
Optional 2nd pocket: 12-inch zipper
3) Large 2 ft round by 2 ft tall Sack or Duffel. Materials required:
1 5/8 yards of 60-inch or 2 yards 45-inch material
Cinch Sack: 7 ft cord ( 3/16th’s or larger)
Duffel Option:Zipper 25 in. with pulls
Duffel Option:4 yd webbing 2 in. width for handle
Optional carry strap:4 ft webbing, slider, 2 D-rings, and 2 hooks
Optional 2nd pocket:25-inch zipper
4) 44-inch-tall 2-ft sail bag. Materials required:
2 5/8th’s yard of 45 inch material or 2 1/8th yard of 60 inch materials
7 ft of cord ( ¼inch or larger)

Dacron Sail Cloth

For participants who do not have time to acquire materials or who I need assistance selecting a heavy cloth and notions, Dave will have a small selection of cloth (mostly Sunbrella) in limited quantities and colors and some optional items (zippers, D-rings, hooks, and webbing) available for purchase for purchase. You may have to mix and match/patch for lengths.
Tape measure, marking pencil (black/red or tailors chalk), drawing compass, scissors. Optional: Hot knife or woodburning pencil or soldering iron to cut fabric
