Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursdays from 3:45 to 6:. On Wednesdays we will have a team workout from 2:45-3:30, followed by Varsity practice. JV sailors are encouraged to join in the workout. Be prepared for chilly spring weather. Wetsuits or drysuits are strongly advised. Sailors dressed inappropriately for the weather conditions will not be allowed on the water.
Participation on our race team requires a membership with CYC Seattle. Please view and complete the membership application here, or fill it out in this registration form. You can choose to join as a month to month member for the months you are on race team. There is no initiation fee, and you may put Michael Dougherty and Geoff Pease as your sponsors. Email juniorsprogram@cycseattle.org for questions. You may still register while your application is being processed.

This full day weeklong class for ages 12-18 expands on concepts learned previously in Optis, Vanguards 15s, or all other sailing boats. Sailing experience is required. Students will learn how to tack and gybe, use body weight to steer their boat, sail alone confidently, among other challenging skills. Sailors who are interested in joining our race team are highly encourage to take this class, especially those who are currently sailing optis. This class focuses on:
Rigging and derigging a Laser Moving effectively and comfortably in a boat alone Advanced sail trim using sail controls Intro to racing Explanations of the physics of lift and flow
All our sail camps require your child to pass a simple safety check in the water for liability. This safety check is performed during the beginning of their session on Monday, and is a basic swim and capsize check, with a life jacket on. Please be aware that if your child cannot enter the water, they will be asked to not come back and we cannot offer a refund.

This full day weeklong into to sailing class is perfect for children ages 8-12 who have little to no sailing experience. Sailors who want to control their own boat fit in right here. By the end of the full day week, students will be able to sail and rig their own boat, tie some awesome knots, and know basic sailing terminology. Great for returning and new sailors. This class focuses on:
This full day weeklong class for teens teaches cooperation, communication, and sailing knowledge to students in a doublehanded (2 person) boat. By the end of the week, students will be able to rig and sail a boat as both a crew and a skipper. Sailors should bring their own lunch. Great for returning and new sailors more than 100 pounds and between the ages of 12 and 18. Instructors will teach to whatever level students are at, and can make accommodations for more advanced students. This class focuses on:

The guppies class is the best place for brand new sailors aged 6-8 and less than 100 lbs. This half day week long introduction to sailing can be participated in by students who are interested in the fundamentals of being on and around the water. Small class sizes and fun interactive activities help your little one feel safe and comfortable on the water. In this class, we focus on:
