Duck Dodge 2010

Duck Dodge a week ago was great fun. Ten boats total, five from Shilshole and five from the U of Washington. Thanks to Ross Fleming for rustling up the U's Lasers. (Remember, the U used to be THE Laser home). Thanks to Joe Burcar for figuring out the perfect WDM (Wine Dispensary Method).
For what it's worth, four Lasers came in ahead of all other centerboarders including an FD and two 505s! Nothing like good starts and clean air and an archipelago of slowly moving fiberglass islands to help give Lasers the edge.
Thanks to the Duck Dodge Committee for our own ducks! This is proof positive that the Lasers fleet can assemble at a remote location and have a blast.

Gorge Sailing
The Gorge! The sun's finally out, and no doubt the wind's up on the Gorge just in time for summer sailing and carnage. The Seattle Laser Fleet will definitely be represented. Here's a rundown: Laser Performance Clinic, July 19-21 Laser Gorge Blowout, July 22; 2010 Laser Masters Pacific Coast Championships, July 24-25; WIND Youth Clinic, August 3-5; Columbia Gorge One-Design Regatta (CGOD)/ Pacific NW Youth Regatta, August 6-8; Laser Masters Pre-Worlds Training Camp, August 28-29. For full details, see the Columbia Gorge Racing Assoc.
District 6 Championship
The notice of race has been posted for the last District 6 Championship at Bellingham on Sept 18,19. See the Race Notice for more details.
Masters Worlds 2011
Next year the Masters Worlds will be on San Francisco Bay in the Southampton to Berkeley Circle Area in August. Laser Master Worlds may be the coolest regatta anywhere for any class. Really. It's no longer a given that anyone who wants to can sail, there may be a cutoff. Regardless, it's a good idea to start accumulating points in the Laser ranking system to be assured of a spot, and get some practice before the big event. Look for Laser class sanctioned events like district champs, PCCs etc.
